Mary M Grimsley

Mary M. Grimsley of Naples FL died January 11, 2018.  Mary was born the only daughter to Ethel and Earnest Evans in Springfield OH in 1927.  She attended Springfield public schools with her two brothers, attended Wittenberg University, was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and became a Registered Public Accountant while in Springfield.  She married her childhood sweetheart Harold Fayne Grimsley in 1945.  Harold was a career Navy veteran and Mary provided emotional support and care to Harold through his thirty plus years of Naval service in which he served on 12 ships and in conflicts ranging from WWII to the Vietnam War.  While Harold was serving overseas in the Navy Mary worked full time in different accounting and book keeping roles.  She was head of book keeping for a C.P.A. firm in Washington.

After Harold’s retirement from the Navy in 1974 the couple relocated to Naples FL and Mary worked a key accounting role for a local real estate developer.  Mary would comment that she never had a job that she did not like…she enjoyed every job she ever had.  She and Harold enjoyed traveling in retirement and would often take trips to Las Vegas and also to Ohio and Texas (to see family).  Mary and Harold were great role models having positive and uplifting effect on their 14 nieces and nephews, four God children, friends and neighbors.

Mary and her family thank the caregivers who helped Mary in the final years of her life:  Dulce, Alexis, Gracia, Aldith, Christine, Osa and special Aston Gardens neighbor Walter.  All of you made Mary’s final years better, happier and we thank you for your kindness and care.

There will be no funeral or visitation (Mary’s wishes).  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to your local Parkinson’s Association. You may leave an online tribute or message to the family at the following website www.fullernaples.com
