Matthew T. Purzycki

Matthew T. Purzycki, 79, of Naples, FL passed away peacefully on August 6, 2017 after a long battle with brain cancer. Born in 1938 to the late Matthew and Elizabeth (Rowney) Purzycki, Matt grew up in Schenectady, NY where he attended the former Draper High School.

In 1956, Matt enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was stationed at Parris Island, SC and Camp Lejeune, NC. Following his honorable service, he returned home to Schenectady and went to work for the United Parcel Service. He retired from UPS with 33 years of service and then worked summers at the Stadium Golf Course.

While Matt enjoyed hunting, fishing and walking the Mall with his friends, he loved Florida where he soon made Naples his permanent home.

Matt will be dearly missed by his devoted wife of 56 years, Sharon (Wissley) Purzycki; son, Thomas (Cheryl) Purzycki of Rotterdam, NY; daughters, Karen (Rick) LaVare of Altamont, NY and Deborah Purzycki of Schenectady, NY; cherished grandchildren, Jordan LaVare, Ricky LaVare, Danielle and Samantha Purzycki; two great granddaughters, Gemma and Lorelei Graves; sisters, Marion Thomas of East Greenbush, NY, Beverly (Dave) Laurenty of Scotia, NY and Carol Purzycki of Rotterdam; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Matthew.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Details will be announced. Contributions in Matt’s memory may be made to St Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis , TN 38105(stjude.org).
