Our beautiful Mother, Mildred Emily Neelans Robbins of Naples, FL, died on Christmas Eve. She knew Santa Claus was coming tonight as her daughter, Colleen, read her “The Night Before Christmas”. She died, peacefully in her sleep.
The second child of Mark Albert Neelans and Margaret Prosser Neelans born in Springfield, MA. Mildred lived most of her life in Bridgeport, CT before moving to Naples, FL in 2004. She retired after over 35 years working for Norden Systems, a United Technology Company, where she worked on the Norden Bombsite and circuits on various defense contracts.
She was an avid snow skier, loving the sport which took her to the mountains of Europe and the United States. Moguls were her favorite part. She joined the Sterling House Ski Club in Stratford, CT in her 40’s and enjoyed the various activities with the club. They were, also, involved with the Special Olympics Competition held in CT.
Her former husband, Alfred Robbins, who passed away in 2012, and she bought property in Killington, VT where they enjoyed the outdoors.
She is the last of the Neelans family. Her sisters: Dorothy Napolitano, Barbara Velky and Frances Cuda and her only brother, Richard Neelans, passed before her.
She leaves her daughter and son-in-law Colleen and Robert Rossomando who live in Naples, FL. Many nieces and nephews from CT and Texas. She enjoyed her Great Grandchildren: Jessica, Nicholas, Joseph, A.J. and Sophia Rossomando, known to them as “Great Mimi”.
We want to express our thanks to our church family of St. Monica’s Episcopal Church who tirelessly reached out to her. She was proud to be part of the congregation.
A memorial service will be scheduled, later.
