Nancy DeGeorge of Naples, Florida, passed away on February 10,2020. She was 98 years old.
Nancy was born Annunziata Specioso in New York City on October 12, 1921 of immigrant, Sicilian parents, and was the oldest of four children. As a teenager, she studied fashion design and dressmaking, a talent and skill which she utilized throughout her life in many forms. She married George DeGeorge in 1939 and subsequently had 2 children, Kathryn (1942) and Joseph (1946). The family relocated to the Albany N.Y. area in 1953 where George became owner of a gas station. Nancy helped extensively in the running of that business, and later became trained as an administrative assistant for the State of New York in the Civil Service Department. She also maintained a dressmaking business. Upon her retirement, she and her husband relocated to Florida.
Nancy was pre-deceased by her husband George in 1999, her youngest sister Lena Salek in 2017 and her daughter-in-law, Patricia Vasko DeGeorge in 2016. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Adams of Naples, son, Dr. Joseph DeGeorge of The Villages, granddaughter, Cheryl Adams of Naples, great-granddaughter, Melissa Vomel of Margate Fl, sister, Josephine King and Brother James Savo, both of California.
There will be a private service for immediate family at the columbarium where her ashes will be interred, next to her husband’s. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to Vitas Hospice of Naples, FL in her name.
