Patrick J. "PJ" Thompson, Jr., 74, of Naples, FL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Physicians Regional Medical Center – Pine Ridge, Naples, FL. He was born on March 19, 1948 in Houston, TX, the son of Patrick and Elsie (née Sanford) Thompson. He will always be remembered as the loving, generous, thoughtful and proud hard-working man that he was all of his life. He loved to sing out loud, but was always quiet and peaceful with his intentions. His presence was strong and endearing and felt by all who knew him well. He will forever be in our hearts and missed always and forever.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joanne Nixon Thompson of 40 years; his children, Teresa “Tina” Thompson, Stephanie Nixon, James (Laura) Nixon, Celestina “Sally” Thompson-Nelson; his grandchildren, Olivia, Ashley, Eric, David, Jenna, Cory and Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Aleena, Killian, Slade, Autumn, Mazi and Tobe; and his sister, Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Oldham; along with several loving family members, and his two adorable and loving puppies, Phoebe and Chloe. Patrick is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lindsey.
Patrick worked for MCN Distributors, Inc., as a sales manager, and worked in the HVAC business his entire career. He prided himself on growing that business for over 57 years and breaking record sales year after year until his retirement. He then worked part-time into his 70s and relocated to Naples, FL in October of 2018. He loved bowling, sailing, golfing and enjoyed spending time with his family.
There will be a private service at the Fuller Funeral Home on May 20, 2022 in memory of Patrick J. Thompson, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in his name be made to New York Blood & Cancer Specialists or the charity of one’s choice.
