Peter John Hayes, 80, of Naples, Florida passed peacefully away on November 27, 2022. He was born and raised in Salem, MA.  He was predeceased by his parents, Colonel Warren J Hayes and Brenda (Grace) Hayes.

Peter enjoyed a successful career in retail for over six decades.  He served on the Board of Directors for Spencer Savings Bank for many years. Past career positions include President, CEO and Chairman in both private and public companies. Peter has also served on various board of directors for both retail companies and non-profits.  He proudly served his country in the U.S Army Reserve.  Peter lived every day of his life to the fullest. He and his wife enjoyed many years of adventures, boating and traveling the world.  Peter is particularly known for taking others under his wing whether it was in friendship or mentorship. He especially took great joy in his grandchildren’s lives and happiness.

Peter sadly leaves his beloved wife Marie Alice (LeClaire) Hayes, whom he called his “Mia”. Marie has been his soulmate and wife of 56 years. He is survived by his sister Kathleen Moriarty and her husband Robert J Moriarty. His brother Dr. Stephen D Hayes predeceased Peter and is survived by his sister-in-law Clare Hayes.

He leaves four loving children Dr. John Henderson, and his wife, Dr. Fernanda Ferreiera, Jayne Schandl,  Marc Peter Hayes and his wife Helen (Ni) Hayes and Beth “Peacha” McKee and her husband Bruce McKee. The joy of his life was his beloved grandchildren, Charles Schandl and his partner Katie Todd, Jason Schandl and his wife Emma Fisher-Cobb, Nicole Schandl, Katherine Karlin McKee, Kaylie Hayes, Kendall Hayes and great grandchildren Charlie Schandl, Austin Schandl and nephews, nieces and cousins.

Service will be at 10:00 AM, St William’s Church, 601 Seagate Drive, Naples, Florida on Tuesday, December 13, 2022.  Followed by a Celebration of Peter’s life at Naples Sailing and Yacht Club, 896 River Point Drive, Naples Florida 

 Donations may be made to Naples Senior Center at naplesseniorcenter.org.
