Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Peter Munzo passed away peacefully on July 18 in Naples, FL. Pete was born on July 22, 1937, in Paterson, NJ, and was the only child of Pat and Sophie Munzo. He met the love of his life, Rosalie, while they attended Eastside HS in Paterson. After graduating from Fairleigh Dickinson College, he married Rosalie, then volunteered to join the United States Marine Corps. After going through Officer Candidates School, Pete served in Camp Pendleton, CA, and Iwakuni, Japan, as a 1st Lieutenant. Throughout the remainder of his 84 years, Pete proudly celebrated the Marine Corps birthday annually in November.
After his honorable discharge, Pete began a long career in banking as a commercial lender and executive vice president in northern New Jersey. Pete and Rosalie raised their two sons in Summit, NJ, and enjoyed playing tennis and golf at Fairmount Country Club in Chatham, NJ, where they made lifelong friends. They retired to Naples in 1998 and have been long-time members of Naples Heritage. That never lessened Pete’s enthusiasm in rooting for the Giants and Mets, his two favorite teams. Their favorite pastime besides visiting family was cruising the Caribbean on Princess Cruise Lines.
Peter is survived by Rosalie, his wife of 63 years, his sons, Christopher (Kimberley) of Anna Maria Island, FL, and David (Hilda) of Pinole, CA, and his four grandchildren, Matthew, Peter, Mark, and Felicia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 25, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 5130 Rattlesnake-Hammock Road, Naples. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Naples Memorial Gardens.
