Richard G. Palombo, age 95, of Naples, FL, passed away on Nov. 22, 2021. He was a lifelong resident of Pittsburgh, PA and Upper St. Clair, graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School and then served in the US Air Force during WWII. He attended Penn State University and became a Registered Landscape Architect. He was a member of Valley Brook Country Club, Dormont-Mt. Lebanon Rotary Club, and St. Thomas More choir for 50 years. He also sang in the choir at St. William Catholic Church. He was the owner of South Hills Nurseries and had an extensive list of accomplishments for Pennsylvania Landscape and Nursery Association, his industry and his community. He was elected President of the PLNA in 1972-1973 and a second term as President in 1997, becoming the only person to ever serve two terms as PLNA President. In 2004, he received the PA Landscape and Nursery Association’s highest membership award given for professional excellence. He was an avid golfer, had an ace at St. Clair Country Club and five aces at High Point Country Club. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Elsie, his children, Rick (Cindy), Dorothy Antic (David-deceased), Frank (Christen), and Michael, grandchildren, Brandon, Bryan, and Nicole, and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Holden. A service on January 15, 2022, at 11 a.m. will be held at St. William Catholic Church in Naples. Following mass, a celebration of life will be held at High Point Country Club.
