Robert Lindly Hayward

The sun rose and set on a beautiful life a few days ago. Our hearts are heavy but our spirits glad that our pop is no longer suffering. Bob is resting easy and for that we are grateful.

On Saturday, July 1, 2017, Robert L Hayward 89, died from complications following a serious heart attack.

Survivors include his children; Graham Hayward, Amy Hinterleiter, Clarice Hayward, Andrew Hayward, three grandchildren and many friends.

Born on 12/13/1927 in Yonkers, NY to John W. Hayward and Clarice F. Hayward, Bob was the youngest of three boys. He was married to his beloved Amy for 51 years. Bob had a long satisfying career at Commerce Clearing House where he was a top salesman and ultimately a District Sales Manager and Vice President of the company.

The grace with which he accepted his circumstances post heart attack was remarkable. Though he was confined to his bed these past few months, he had a ready smile, an extended hand and his signature sunny greeting, "Hey ole buddy", for his many visitors. He solicited kisses from the ladies and jokes and golf stories from his buddies.

At a time when many seek sameness as a means to acceptance, our dad was blessedly unique, a true character. You might see him in a cowboy hat one day a safari jacket the next, or an ascot around his neck - he didn't care what anybody thought, he was who he was. How refreshing! He showed us love, adventure, how to be a good friend, partner and parent, and mostly how to laugh, embrace life and have fun. At 89 he still sparkled and lit up the room. We love you and will miss you Pop.

Memorial services are planned in Northfield, MA and Marco Island, FL. Dates to be determined.
