Ronald "Ron" McQuade, 77, of Naples, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2023 - after a characteristically stubborn and valiant fight with illness, in which he astounded medical experts with his strength and resilience - surrounded by those he loved most, his wife Fran, and daughter, Kim.
Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, Ron joined the United States Marine Corps, was honorably discharged, and subsequently had a 35-year career in the publishing industry; most notably as General Foreman of Delivery for The New York Times.
In business as well as in his personal life, Ron was a man of character and his word, doing things his way, standing by principle, making decisions that weren't always popular, but righteous. A man with a giant heart, Ron was a lover of animals and the underdog; always going out of his way to take care of those less fortunate, however always doing it anonymously -never seeking attention for his many acts of kindness.
Ron was predeceased by his beloved brothers, Jack and Jimmy, and sister, Gracie, and parents Joe and Irene. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Fran, and beloved daughter, Kim.
Ron cast a long shadow of influence and kindness, and will be remembered as the life of the party, the supportive friend who gave tough love, the husband and dad who took great care of, and pride in, his family.
Until we meet again, let’s just say God Bless and Semper Fidelis.
The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations and community service be offered to St Matthew's House, North Naples Fire Dept/EMT and Avow Hospice Naples, FL in Ron’s memory.
