Tribute

Ronald Frederick Moore, age 85, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2020, in Naples, Florida. He was born May 16, 1935, in Kensington, London to Annie Lilian Taylor and Joseph Thomas Moore.

Ron attended St. James Norlands School in Notting Hill during the German Blitz on London in World War II. Upon completing school, Ron began a Bus Mechanic apprenticeship at Chiswick Bus Works. However, at age 18, he was conscripted into the UK's National Service.

As an infantry member of the Royal Irish Fusiliers, Ron served in Berlin, Germany, Korea, and Kenya, and received a National Service Medal, Queen's Korea Medal, and Africa General Service Medal for his service.

Ron worked various jobs throughout his life– in the grocery department at Whiteley's (the first department store in London), as a fruit and veg seller at the Bayswater Fruit stalls, and as an attendant at the Queensway Ice Rink, before settling into a job cleaning and sterilizing hospital wards and operating theaters with his brother Ray and nephew Leonard.

Ron's greatest joy in life was his family. As a single parent, Ron filled the role of both mother and father to his four children. Affectionately called "Gampop" by his eleven grandchildren, he never missed an opportunity to spoil or help those he cared for. His love was immense, unmistakable, and absolute.

Ron was preceded in death by his father Joseph, mother Annie, and sisters Colleen and Lilian. He is survived by his siblings Mary and Ray; his children Angie, Tony, Lorraine, and Karen; his grandchildren Daniel, Ricky, Matthew, Rachel, Stacey, Samuel, Bradley, Joseph, Danielle, Jason, and Emily; and his great-grandchildren Elijah, Aurora, and Macie.
