Tribute

Scott Schmidtke died unexpectedly on March 4th, 2019 in Naples, Florida, enjoying the warm sunshine and company of good friends.  Scott primarily lived in Chicago but wintered in Naples.

He is survived by George Pauley, his husband of 26 years; Bruiser, his beloved four-legged companion; sister Judy Latman; godson Brett Latman; brother-in-law Steve Latman; his nephew Kevin and niece Beth Latman; first cousins Gwen Ozo, Nancie Kaercher, Susan Schmidtke Edwards and Gary Schmidtke; and many other Pauley cousins who loved him like a son.

He was preceded in death by his father Harold and mother Clara and by his Aunts "Meme" and Anne Zellow.

Scott grew up in Western Spring Illinois, graduating from Lyons Township High School.  He received a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Scott managed some of Chicago’s most popular nightclubs as well as several fine dining restaurants in Highland Park and Chicago.
Scott brought his strategic thinking and large, exuberant personality to everything he did, wanting to make things run efficiently while also making things fun.

His list of friends is long, testimony to his sense of humor and warm heart that attracted people who wanted to be part of his world. He will be deeply missed. A viewing will be held on Monday, March 18,2019 at Halowell and James 1025 W 55th street Countryside, IL 60525 from 2:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 19,2019 at Halowell and James 1025 W 55th street Countryside,IL 60525 at 1:00pm. Internment to follow at Chapel Hill Gardens South Cemetery Oaklawn,IL. In lieu of flowers, make a donation to a charity or church of choice.
