Seymour Harris Rosen

“Synatra” has left the stage and is currently singing on a much larger one with Frank, Dean and Sammy. Sy (Seymour) Rosen quietly passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 in his Naples Florida home. Still singing into his 91st year of life, Sy was known to sit in on occasion with the gracious singer Jebry and her Jazz Band; his version of "New York, New York" was rumored to have regularly brought down the house. In his younger days, he enjoyed singing onstage at any number of family events and on cruise ships; on numerous occasions he had been approached to tour as a singer by those with whom he performed.   

Sy was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA to Rose and Julius Rosen on May 24, 1926. As a youth, he was an avid athlete eventually playing semi-pro football while rooting for his beloved Philadelphia Eagles. After high school while working in the family food provisions business, Sy met Sheila Benson and they married after a short courtship. Thereafter, he enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served in Germany. Upon his return, Sy was instrumental in developing a full line wholesale food distribution company. He made many friends in business through his determination and persistence while exhibiting a loyal, compassionate demeanor. Later, as a well-respected food industry professional he continued his career as a food broker in the Philadelphia area before retiring. Along with the love of his life, Sheila, they made Naples their new home 22 years ago and had most recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this past June. 

Above all, Sy loved his family and had  a zest for life. He is survived by his wife, Sheila, and his loving family: Three sons, Richard and his wife, Tracy; Kenneth and his partner, Lauren; Robert and his wife, Joan; and his brother Marc and wife, Lona.

A celebration of Sy’s life is planned for Monday, January 15th at 2 p.m. at Fuller Funeral Home, 1625 Pine Ridge Road, Naples, Florida.
