Thomas Butler

April 29, 1942 ~ April 15, 2017 (age 74) 74 Years Old
Thomas John Butler, 74, of Key Largo, FL passed away peacefully on April 15, 2017 in Naples, FL due to complications from Parkinson's Disease.

Tom was born on April 29, 1942 to Ed and Harriet (Spakowsky) Butler in Chicago, IL.  He graduated from Saint Ignatius High School in 1960 and after serving in the US Army earned degrees from Western Illinois University and The University of Georgia.

Tom married his college sweetheart, Kathy, in 1965 and quickly rose with the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, helming operations throughout Latin America with stints in Venezuela, Mexico and Brazil.  He retired in Miami as President of Latin American Operations.  In Brazil he served as President of the American Society and took up theatre and performing arts in his spare time.

Settling in Key Largo, he produced, directed and starred in countless presentations with local non-profit theatre group The Key Players. Widely recognized for his community service, Tom was a man about town and avid sailor serving two terms as Commodore of The Upper Keys Sailing Club, a good friend who loved sports, a good joke, music, who had a stool and pool cue with his name on them at the corner dive bar.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Kathy; his children, Brian and Kellie and their spouses, Dee and Niall; his grandchildren, Thomas, Sofia, Sean and Nick; and his siblings, Linda and Jimmy, all of whom he cherished dearly.

A memorial service and celebration of Tom's life will be held at a future date to be determined.
Condolences may be sent c/o Terracina Grand, 6825 Davis Blvd., Naples, FL 34104

Donations in Tom's name may be directed to The Key Players Community Theatre Group of the Upper Florida Keys, The National Parkinson Foundation, and/or The Michael J. Fox Foundation, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
