Wendell D. Gillund, age 89, passed away on January 1, 2022. He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Kathleen (Kitty), three daughters Linda Nolin, LeAnn Davidson, and Wendy Gillund, six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Preceding Wendell in death were his parents, Clara and Roy Gillund; brother, Dr. RC Gillund; and infant daughter, Kathleen.
Wendell received a B.S. in Chemistry and Math from Valley City State University in Valley City, North Dakota. He also earned a M.S. in Chemistry from North Dakota State University and an Executive M.B.A. from Columbia University.
Starting as a chemist with Sherwin-Williams, he rose to the rank of Group Vice-President. Following that he took the position as the president of Myer Industry. Then purchased and managed Meier Inc., a wholesale distributor of industrial equipment.
In 1982 Wendell was honored by his alma mater as alumnus of the year and was the commencement speaker. He loved to golf and was a member of the Royal Poinciana Golf Club. He was a Silver Life Master Bridge player and loved the game and his partners.
Wendell was a serious person, dedicated to providing for his family, worked to succeed, and competed to win. He was a man of faith and was a lifetime member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
