William H. Hyland was born May 8, 1922 to William and Grace Hyland in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated from West High School. He attended the University of Minnesota, St. Olf College, North Field, Minnesota and University of Iowa, Iowa City.

                During World War II, he flew as a Navy aviator serving as a test pilot in the South Pacific and the Philippines, leaving active duty as a full Lieutenant. After his return from service, he was employed by C. H. Robinson Inc. and for 40 years specialized in the distribution of fresh food around the world by rail, truck, sea and air. He served on the Board of Directors of the United Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association, Washington, D.C. for 6 years and for 5 years as Chairman of the Brokers Division. He was also President of Commodity Futures Inc.

                On March 29, 1947 he married Margaret L. Stalnaker in Pearia, Illinois. They lived 39 years on the Island of Grosse Ile, Michigan. He was a past President of Grosse Ile Golf and Country Club and Grosse Ile Community Youth Center. He was a Commodore of Round Island Yacht Club and was a Police Commissioner for many years.

                In 1987 Bill retired and he and Marge moved to Naples, Florida. He was a past President of Royal Poinciana Golf Club, served on the Board of Hospice of Naples for 3 years, Board of Citizens to Preserve Naples Bay and on the Board of Port Royal Property Owners Association. He was a member of the Port Royal Club and the Naples Yacht Club.

                Bill and Marge were avid world travelers for many years and had many wonderful experiences.

                Bill is survived by his wife, Marge; son, Gregory (Alta); 3 grandchildren, Cameron (Catherine), Matthew, and Erica; 3 great-grandchildren, Lucas Anna and Eden; and 1 sister, Betty Olson.

He was preceded in death by son, Bradley, in 2013. Bradley has 2 surviving daughters, Jennifer and Michelle, and grandson, Matthew. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Jeanice, and brothers, Irving and Dean.
