December 9, 1969 ~ October 3, 2021 (age 51) 51 Years Old

Tribute

William (Bill) C. McCurdy III (51), passed away peacefully but unexpectedly at home on Sunday, October 3, 2021 in Naples, Florida.   Bill is survived by his wife, Sarah Jane McCurdy, and their amazing children, Tyler William (15) and Meghan Sarah (12), his mother, Lynne A. McCurdy (Ron Cerritelli), his sister, Michelle H. Kavulich (Mark), his sister, Sheryl L. Parente (Joe), wonderful nieces and nephews (Mark Austin, Lexi, Nick, Andrew, Annabelle), loving aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.  He joins his father, William (Skip) C. McCurdy, Jr, in heaven.

Bill was born in Royal Oak, Michigan but grew up in Birmingham and West Bloomfield, Michigan. His mother described him as an energetic, fun and loving little boy, who loved sports (especially water sports), animals and his friends.  These are qualities and passions he held onto as he grew into an amazing man.  Bill loved, cared and worried so deeply.  His family and friends were incredibly important to him and he worked hard to build and maintain strong relationships.  Bill embraced and excelled at water sports – slalom water skier, certified scuba diver, expert boatsman and fabulous swimmer.

Bill and Sarah were together for 30 years, married for 24 of those years, moving from Michigan to Florida in 1995.  They were the very best of friends. While his life was short, Bill lived it to the fullest, seeking fun and adventure all of the time.  Bill and Sarah travelled the world together and still had so many places on their list they wanted to visit.  They loved playing games with friends and family.  Known to be quite competitive, Bill welcomed every chance to “win a game”.  He was often quoted as saying, “life is a competition”!  He faithfully supported his Detroit sports teams, even though he lived in Florida for more than 25 years, and one day hoped he would see his challenged Detroit Lions in the Super Bowl.

Bill was an amazing father to his children – very involved and hands-on in raising them.  He was at his happiest cheering his son, Tyler, at a football game, providing Tyler with guidance on his workout routines, taking his daughter, Meghan, on daddy-daughter lunch dates, coaching Meghan with her water-skiing and shopping with and for them.  They are strong and loving children as a result of his love and support.

Bill requested to be cremated.

A service celebrating Bill’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. with a memorial gathering beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Fuller Funeral Home, 1625 Pine Ridge Road, Naples, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bill’s memory to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), https://donate.nami.org/, to continue providing critical mental health resources and support.
