Mary Margaret "Sue" (Jorgenson) Johnson

January 9, 1929 ~ July 20, 2021 (age 92)

Sue Johnson, 92, passed away peacefully at home in Pelican Bay on July 20, 2021.

Sue was born in Webster, S.D., on Jan. 9, 1929. She lived in Summit, S.D., where her father ran the local restaurant. In 1936 her family moved to South Minneapolis, where Sue grew up and met the love of her life Douglas Johnson in the 9th grade. They were married in March 1949, and enjoyed 66 years of marriage. Doug and Sue lived in Golden Valley, Minn., where they raised their three wonderful children Reid, Patty and Missey, who were the most important part of her life. In the 1970s, Doug and Sue purchased a condo in Naples and eventually split their time between Wayzata, Minn., and Florida.

Sue was a fun-loving and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was always there for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Esther Larson Jorgenson, her sisters Patricia Relopez and Georgia Amo, and her husband Douglas Dean Johnson, who died in March 2015.

Always a beauty, Sue modeled for companies like Munsingwear and Folgers Coffee. She was an avid reader and also loved her daily crossword puzzles. A longtime Grey Oaks member, she looked forward to playing bridge every Wednesday with her girlfriends. She and Doug enjoyed traveling the world with their friends; and one of the highlights was getting to see her all-time favorite Frank Sinatra at The Kahala Hilton in Hawaii.

Sue is survived by her son Reid Johnson (Luann), and daughters Melissa Schouviller (Troy) and Patricia Hermanson (George), along with her beloved grandchildren Stuart, Lauren, Alex, Erika, Dana, Nick and Marissa, and her great grandchildren Cailin, Evan, Gabrielle, Derek, Deacon, Reagan, Fiona, Audrey and Elin.

Thank you to the caregivers at The Cove at Marbella, who took loving care of her and brought her joy daily. She loved them dearly.

A private family gathering will be held in Minneapolis at a later date.
