Robert M. Doherty of Naples, Florida, husband of Carol, went to the loving arms of Our Lord on January 15, 2021. Formerly from Briarcliff Manor, NY, he retired to Naples in 1997. Born in White Plains, NY in 1934, Robert graduated from Georgetown University in 1956 and then was drafted into the US Army. After being honorably discharged, Bob began his career in sales with New York Life Insurance Co. in 1958, retiring in 1996. He was a Lifetime member of the Million Dollar Round Table for sales excellence. Bob was a member of the nominating committee for the Westchester Sports Hall of Fame for 30 years. He was active in the Lion’s Club, the YMCA and University Club. Many will remember him as an avid sports enthusiast, loving the NY Giants, Yankees, and Knicks. He maintained an active life in retirement, enjoying golf, tennis and keeping fit. He ran many road races, including the New York City Marathon in 1983. Bob will be dearly missed by his loving wife Carol (Roach) of 54 years, children Brian, Laura, and Karen Lloyd (Kevin). Also survived by two grandsons, James and Jack Lloyd. He is also survived by sisters Eileen Roche, Ann Marie Basher (Thomas), brothers James Doherty (Bonnie) and Raymond Doherty (Claudia). He was a cherished husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by many.
