Rosemary “Mosey” (Burns) Gunther, 80, of Naples, Florida, passed away September 21, 2021.
Rosemary grew up in St. Louis, the daughter of Ed and Rose Burns. She was a 1959 graduate of Nerinx Hall. She got her nickname as a baby, and she went by Mosey her whole life.
Mosey married the love of her life, her husband, Don, in 1961, and they had four children. Don’s career required them to move more than fifteen times all over the world, including London, Houston, and San Francisco. They made Naples their permanent home in 1998. Mosey’s chief occupation was taking care of her family and home, and her priority was always to help her family settle in wherever they lived. “Bloom where you’re planted” was Mosey’s favorite saying, and she had many chances to do that. Over the years, she volunteered in neighborhood and community activities, including the Naples Winter Wine Festival.
Among her many admirable qualities were her graciousness, humility, sense of humor, devotion to her family, and her excellent taste in art and décor. She was a world class shopper. Every Christmas, Grandma Mosey worked hard to make special memories for her kids and grandkids. Her faith in Jesus Christ was lived out each day. Mosey’s sisters, Judy and Jane, were her best friends, and they kept each other laughing across all the years and miles.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Don Joseph Gunther; son Patrick Gunther and wife Lisa; daughter Susan Nefzger and husband Michael; son Curtis Gunther and wife Melinda; and daughter Kate Elsey and husband John; 12 grandchildren: Matthew Gunther, David Nefzger, John Gunther, Robert Nefzger, Christina Gunther, Allison Elsey, Kelly Nefzger Richardson, William Gunther, Megan Elsey, Lauren Gunther, Zach Elsey, and Jake Gunther.
There will be a private service for immediate family members only.
