Tribute for Winifred "Winnie" Smyth who went home to be with our Lord Jesus on June 26, 2022.
Winifred Smyth (Molloy) had lived in SW Florida for nearly 38 years and was a resident of New York City when she first came to the United States and formerly Kilquire, Kilmaine, Ireland in her 96th year. She was the youngest of 13 children and her nickname was "Girlie" that was given to her by her family. She was a mother of 2 (Patricia and Christopher), Grandmother, and a Great-grandmother. She was a waitress for over 40 years in New York City which included Macy's 34th Street, Juniors Restaurant (Brooklyn N.Y.), and the Sheraton Hotel in midtown New York and among her famous patrons were Muhammad Ali, Dan Rathers, Mayor Abe Beam, several baseball players which included Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, and Tommy Lasorda.to name a few..
In her later years a tireless volunteer servicing at Sugden Theater (15 years), NCH White Elephant, Options resale, and several years at Avow Treasures. She loved her family, especially her Grandchildren and also enjoyed travelling to many beautiful locations with her dear friend Henry "Hank" Matlotz. Some of the locations were the Caribbean Islands, Alaska, and revisiting her birth place, Ireland.
She was predeceased by her daughter Patricia. Deeply regretted by her son Christopher and daughter-in-law Carolyn, grandchildren (Michael, Shannon, Edward, Jamie, and Samantha), several great-grandchildren, nephews and countless dear friends.
She enjoyed being a patron of Blueberry's and Mel's Diner in Naples. She enjoyed reading many novels but especially about the Kennedy's. She had made many wonderful and dear friends over her 38 years living in Naples, Florida.
A Celebration of Life will held on Saturday July 9th from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Fuller Funeral Home, 1625 Pine Ridge Road, Naples, FL 34109, 239-592-1611.
