Dr. E. Michael McGowan

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Dr. E. Michael McGowan at the age of 84. He is survived by his wife Dawn and passed away on their 39th wedding anniversary. He is also survived by his loving family and friends,  sister Nancy McGowan Pruitt. His children are Kathleen Broquet, Timothy M. McGowan (Amy), David A. McGowan (Kelly), Trish Nixon (Keith), Dana Calhoun (Geoffrey). He is also survived by dear friend Norma Callahan. Grandchildren MacKenzie Broquet, Nicole Broquet, Aidan McGowan, Jack McGowan, Kendall McGowan, Brennan McGowan,Bailey Nixon, Craig Nixon, Jonah Calhoun, Carter Terrien, Henry Terrien, Lucas Terrien.  He was predeceased by wife Leah (Schultz) McGowan and daughter Maureen McGowan and Grandson Joshua Broquet.
After graduating from Rice University and Baylor Medical School, Houston, TX he entered the Navy.  He served for twelve years during which he did his Internship and Residency in Dermatology.  He was extremely proud of earning his "Dolphins" and service in Nuclear Submarines. He retired as a full Commander.  Dr. McGowan then enjoyed a private practice of Dermatology in Midland, MI for twenty years.  Many years were spent cruising the Great Lakes and Canadian waters.  He taught Advanced Piloting for the Power Squadron for a number of years. He was especially happy to have played the piano on Friday nights at the Longshore Lake Club House in Naples for seven years.  He found great pleasure in his family, cooking and entertaining friends.
 A memorial ceremony will be held, Tuesday, Feb. 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Fuller Funeral Home, 1625 Pine Ridge Road, Naples.  In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory may be made to:  Avow Hospice, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105.
