Philip J ChesaroneDecember 7, 1919 ~ July 13, 2017 (age 97)
Philip J. Chesarone, 97, of Naples, FL died July 11, 2017. Born, raised and educated in Newton, MA, he was the son of the late Vincenzo and Antonetta (Tocci) Chesarone.
After graduation from Newton High School in 1938, Philip went on to Wilbraham Academy and the University of Vermont. A member of the class of 1943, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He played freshman football and became Captain of the Varsity Team. Philip was inducted into the University of Vermont Athletic Hall of Fame in 1982.
His career in engineering took him to Bell Aircraft in Buffalo, NY; Jackson & Moreland Engineering of Boston and New York doing electric power plant construction work; and the Exxon Corporation where he retired as Senior Staff Engineer in charge of new construction and major maintenance projects.
Philip married his beloved wife of 75 years, the former, Janet S. Foote of Charlotte, VT. They have five children including, Felice, Vincent, Allan, Lawrence and James. Janet and Phil raised their family in Newton, MA spending summers at Humarock Beach in Scituate, MA.
They retired to Marco Island in 1980 where Phil was active as a volunteer for Naples Community Hospital. He served on the Marco Island Architectural Review Committee and was a member of the Marco Island Country Club and Marco Island Yacht Club. Phil and Janet enjoyed traveling and sightseeing; Phil was also an avid sports fan. He and Janet moved to Naples, FL in 2012.
In addition to his wife and children, Philip will be dearly missed by all who had the opportunity to know him including ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Final committal will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Needham, MA. Services are private.
