The first word that comes to mind when describing Whit is "special." His handshake meant you had a guaranteed contract. He was truly a gentleman and embodied what it means to be a Kentucky Colonel. He set an example that few could equal, but we could all emulate. We are all thankful for the time we had together. He will be sorely missed. My sincere condolences to all the Hawkins Family.

My Dad (J.J.Shad) was VERY close to Whit!...I am saddened to hear of his passing, but know that they are both together again and am quite certain the "practical" jokes have resumed!....It was a privilege for me to pass along "Frankie" perfectly preserved to Whit in 2003 after Dad passed away! Delta was BLESSED beyond words to have had these 2 INCREDIBLE gentlemen among their ranks!...GODSPEED!

Whit was a high school classmate of mine In Mt. Sterling. He along with Billy Priest, JackFogel., and I spent considerable time together. Even in those days, he was the essence of " likeability". and it was easy to see that in his wonderful career later.,.Would see each other during his work career and always reminest about those days in Mt. Sterling. We share his loss and treasure knowing him.

My Dad so loved and still loves his mentor and friend, Mr. Whit Hawkins. My Dad, Jack R. Mobley, DMM, JAX, always told us, his children, how "Whit" was such a great friend, inspiration and boss and how he shaped and coached our Dad as a "salesman and Marketing Manager" for Delta and helped make him so successful. We are so grateful for our Dad's 50 years of dedication to Delta, every year making such a wonderful airline because of men like Mr. Hawkins. Our hearts are broken for your family's loss, but grateful our Dad met yours.... along the way.... Hugs and Love to all of you, especially his dear wife, Betty....Jack is, understandably, a bit sad tonight at the loss of such a dear friend, but we know Mr. Whit is 'flying high' in the blue skies of DAL. Sincerely, the entire Mobley Family , especially, his dear friend, Jack.

To the family of my dear friend Ashley H. Nestale, I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my grandfather in 2008, and not a day goes by that I don't think of him. When Ashley spoke of her grandfather, her face lit up! What great memories! May God comfort you in your time of sorrow.

Love,
Stacie N. Wright

I enjoyed reading about Whit and his exciting career journey. I know he was successful with the two sons I know and it appears he was just as successful in business. We should all be so lucky! All my best to everyone in the family.

Saddened by the sudden loss of Whit and the thoughts of my three sons and I go to Betty ,Skip and the whole family .
Happy memories of meeting with Whit and Betty in Dunedin NZ whilst they were travelling. We were able, along with my late wife Kay to return just some of the hospitality shown to me particularly whilst in the USA.
A humble simple and kind man a leader who provided well for his family and his nation.
With love from
