Jan Marlene (Koch) Friedeck, 72, died peacefully on Sunday, May 21, 2017 under Hospice care at Barrington Terrace Memory Care facility in Naples, FL.
Jan Friedeck, daughter of Rudolph and Elsie Koch, was born December 27, 1944, in San Marcos, Texas. She graduated from New Braunfels High School in Texas in 1963, where she was a band member and drum majorette. Jan had two children from her prior marriage to Walter Friedeck, Jr. Jan lived most of her life in Texas, including New Braunfels, Seguin, and San Antonio. She spent most of her work life in administrative and executive positions and as a property manager. Upon her diagnosis with Alzheimer’s in 2012, Jan moved to Marco Island, FL to be near family. Throughout her life, she most enjoyed spending time with her family and time near the ocean. Jan was an ardent music fan and enjoyed listening to music of all genres.
Jan is survived by her daughter, Michelle Christine (Friedeck) Costa, of East Falmouth, MA; son and daughter-in-law; Kristofer Gregg Friedeck and Melanie (Lehmann) Friedeck, of Edmonton, Canada; granddaughter Bryce Christine Costa of East Falmouth, MA; and sister and brother-in-law Christine Lesley (Koch) Stroud and Kenneth Stroud, of Marco Island, FL.
A private ceremony will be held for the immediate family at a future time. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorials be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.ALZ.org; 312.335.8700) or to Wesley United Methodist Church of Marco Island (350 South Barfield Drive, Marco Island, FL, 34145; 239.394.3734.).
