Sanford F. "Sandy" Tolchin, M.D.

Sanford F. "Sandy" Tolchin, M.D. died peacefully in his home in Bonita Springs, FL on July 24, 2017. He was 75.
Sandy was born on March 5, 1942 in Pittsburgh, PA to Leonard and Ruth Tolchin. He graduated from Washington and Jefferson College and attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh. He served in the United States Air Force before starting his career as a Rheumatologist in Pittsburgh. Sandy continued his career in hospital management at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, MI and Ascension Health in St. Louis, MO before retiring to Bonita Springs.
Sandy is survived by his wife, Diane, of Bonita Springs; his two sons, David (Kathleen) Tolchin and Daniel (Krista) Tolchin, both of Charlotte, NC; stepson, Brandon (Amanda) Johnston; six grandchildren; and his brother, Stuart Tolchin and sister, Paula Cirota, both of Pittsburgh, PA.
Sandy was an avid golfer and had many wonderful friends in Florida, Michigan, Missouri and Pennsylvania. He was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
A memorial ceremony celebrating Sandy's life will be held in Pittsburgh, PA at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Leaf Foundation of Copperleaf in his honor.
