Dear Howard,
My sincere condolences to you in the passing of your wife. For years on 'CCO I recall how you spoke affectionately of her on the air. It's heartwarming to read of your many years together with your family and shared interests. Quite a love story to hold
close.
You were always a gentleman to work with at 'CCO and I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you what a pleasure it was to work in the 'CCO newsroom (1983-1992) and to be a part of the 'CCO family. It sounds long ago but passed quickly. Many fond memories of interesting assignments "on the street" remain. The camaraderie with colleagues was a special part of that.
My Dad was a veteran of the U.S. Army (1940-45) in the 34th "Red Bull" Infantry Division in the artillerary. My respect for him grows with the years as it does for those who fought in the Pacific, as I recall you did on Iwo Jima. You definitely are part of the Greatest Generation and I want to thank you for that because I failed to thank my Dad for it while he was alive. I treasure the freedom our country has more all the time and can't thank your generation enough. Increasingly, I've become aware of the responsibilities those freedoms carry as well.
Blessings to you for a peaceful life in Florida with your family and friends while you wait for the day you and Mary will be reunited in God's grace. Prayers continue upward for you -- Judy Hutterer Prentiss in New Brighton, Minnesota
